Early Childhood Program

Research reveals that the brain of a child develops rapidly during the first years of life. It is the time of rapid cognitive, linguistic, emotional and social development. It is the time habits are being form, and the greatest capability and eagerness for learning. How the child develops during this period sets the stage for later success in the future.

Theodore International School early education program prepares a learning environment that support, nurture and guide young children in this formative period to discover about the world we live in. Children are inspired and challenge, become independent and take ownership of their learning. Children will recognize that they are created by God and can reflect His character.

Theodore International School’s early childhood program is for children ages two to six years old. It is based on the international accredited Kindergarten Stepping Stones – A Journey to Excellence through Discovery, curriculum from the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist. In addition to our program, we will apply the Montessori philosophy based on a concept that education is a natural process and acquired by experiences in the environment. We also provide the authentic Montessori materials to give your child more hands-on learning experiences in a well prepared classroom.

The Montessori concept of education allows children to experience joy of learning within a well prepared learning environment designed to support the development of intellectual, moral, physical, social and ethical independence.

Kindergarten Stepping Stones – A Journey to Excellence through Discovery is a faith-based kindergarten program. This is a comprehensive curriculum based on the national kindergarten standard in North America. It is based on the belief that kindergarten is a stepping stone between home, early childhood education, and the primary grades of school. The program recognizes that young ones are created in God’s image and must be nurtured to think, learn, choose and grow.

The integrated approach of the curriculum will provide a strong foundation in the development of the child’s physical, social, mental, moral and spiritual skills needed to be successful in facing the future.

Our Toddler program is for children aged two to three years old. Toddlers at this stage have the eagerness to find about themselves. They realize the things they want and don’t want. They learn about relationship and feelings. Language develops very quickly and tries hard to become independent. Theodore International School prepares the environment that young children feel at home.

The classroom is arranged to foster curiosity for learning. The size of the furniture, bathrooms, and shelves is proportioned to the learner so they can explore to develop independence and confidence

3 - 4 years old Pre-kindergarten 1

4 - 5 years old Pre-kindergarten 2

Pre-kindergarten Program is for children aged three to five years old. Our program is based on the kindergarten stepping stone concept of education that allows children to experience joy of learning within a well prepared learning environment designed to support the development of intellectual, moral, physical, social and ethical independence.

Kindergarten stepping stone is founded on the belief that children are capable of self-development and that they will reach their true potential when they are helped to find their own path in an environment that is specifically tailored to their needs at each stage of their development. It is an integrated thematic approach that ties the separate core subjects into the study of the physical universe, world of nature and the human experience.

MULTI-AGE CLASSROOMS

Pre-Kindergarten Program Classes are balanced by age and gender across two age groups, providing opportunities for children to be role models and to learn from each other.

WELL PREPARED ENVIRONMENT

The Pre-Kindergarten classroom is beautiful and ordered.  It is a prepared environment just for the children. All the furniture such as tables, chairs and shelves are made suited to the child size. The classroom has five corners which display the materials for the five areas of subjects. The materials are displayed in low, open shelves. These materials are arranged from the most simple to concrete to the more complicated and abstract. These materials capture interest, invite interaction and manipulation, encourage precise use, extend concentration and challenge the intellect of the kindergarten children.

It is based on the belief that kindergarten is a stepping stone between home, early childhood education, and the primary grades of school. It is a children’s garden where young ones, uniquely created in God’s image, are nurtured to think, learn, choose, and grow. Teachers celebrate the intrinsic worth and value of each child and understand that each brings to the classroom a different set of beliefs, customs, traditions, values, and experiences. It is the goal of Theodore International School education to guide kindergarten children into a loving relationship with God so they, through service, may reflect His love to others.

READY FOR MORE CHALLENGING ACADEMIC SKILLS

By the time children are on Kindergarten program, they are ready to take on more challenging academic and social skills. Kindergarten is an important time of transition for young children. Research supports the theory that children learn better within an authentic context when they have a reason or motivation to do so. Stepping Stones is an integrated program that includes all subject areas with developmentally-appropriate activities designed to meet each individual child’s needs. The intentional integration of the subjects in Kindergarten Stepping Stones provides this theme based instructional framework. The curriculum is organized into 10 thematic units with strong spiritual connections. A rich children’s literature base is incorporated into each theme. Individual units include inquiry-based activities which encourage exploration and discovery.
